Be ShakeAlert® Safe with Rocket

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) and Rocket Rules teamed up to create free resources to teach how ShakeAlert Earthquake Early Warning (EEW) can make us even safer during earthquakes. Designed for young people in grades K-5 and their families, these resources are for everyone. They can be used in places like classrooms, libraries, museums, or even at safety fairs or training courses.

These resources are built around three main principles:

  • We live in earthquake country.
  • If you feel shaking or get an alert, immediately Drop, Cover, and Hold On.
  • ShakeAlert EEW can provide seconds of warning before strong shaking from an earthquake begins.

The USGS-led ShakeAlert System contributes to a Hazard Ready Nation.
